CLASSIC ROCK THAT ACTUALLY ROCKS.

OK, here is a selection of performances that took place more than 30 years ago. They are all awesome and long. If you want to kill time with a set of headphones or decent speakers, youtube quality should do fine.
Also, I'd like to apologize for the lack of comics, a shitload of them are coming soon (plus a few surprises)

first things first . . .

Pink Floyd - Echoes (part 1) taken from "Live at Pompeii" (1972)

This is an obvious choice. This entire film rules. Some people complain about the fact that the band did some vocals and shit in the studio and that it's not "entirely live" or whatever. I don't give a fuck, it shows a great effort to make something sublime.

David Bowie (or Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars if you want) - Moonage Daydream. taken from "Ziggy Stardust the Motion Picture" (1973 (or at least the concert took place at that time fo sho))

My main reason for liking the Ziggy era so much is probably Mick Ronson. I used to idolise him. One of the best guitarists of the 70s. This is back when Glam was awesome and RAW and not sinonimous to gayness. I fucking love this song.

Lou Reed, John Cale and Nico perform Velvet Underground's Femme Fatale at Le Bataclan club in Paris (1972)

Long Live the Velvet Underground. This rendition of Femme Fatale is very stripped down and intimate and shows that Lou can do an acoustic ballad as well as dark and bizzare tunes like Venus in Furs or Heroin from that debut album that is now one of the finest examples of timeless music and sonic experimentation.

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone. I believe this is taken from "No Direction Home", the documentary by Scorsese (god) that came out last year. The footage is from 1966.

The man deserves a fucking nobel prize.

The Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil. taken from The Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus (1968)

The whole concept of this circus is awesome, plus it had great guests (*cough*Lennon*cough*). As a Stones fan I love this performance but it also represents the end of a great era. I'm talking about the fall of Brian Jones and consequently the fall of every experimental shit they ever did (It's sad to see him shitfaced completely just shaking those maracas). After Jones' death the Stones always seemed to stay on the safe side, doing the best 2 guitar rock they could do wich is cool but a song like Sympathy was never to be made again.

Led Zeppelin - Since I've been loving you. taken from "The Song Remains the Same" (1973)

I got into Zeppelin not too long ago (about two years) because of misinformation. I used to asociate these guys with black dog, heartbreaker and that sort of shit wich I still don't care much about. Well if you feel the same way as I did, then try giving Zep another chance. This song is fucking great, it's probably my favorite blues song and it's all in minor chords. Plus you can see how versatile John Paul Jones was (keyboards and what not).

The Who - Young Man Blues (originally by Mose Allison). This is taken from the "Live at the Isle of Wight" DVD. The Concert took place in 1970.

Pure fucking energy. Fuck a second guitarist or a keyboard player, it's the fucking WHO. In this song everybody plays their balls out. Keith Moon looks like he's going to have a fucking seizure, John Entwhistle (calmed as always) plays the shit out of that Fender Bass, Pete Townshend is fucking Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey sings like a mum rapist (wich is a good thing if you consider vocal abilities).

Yes - And you and I. taken from "Yessongs" (1973)

This one is a personal favorite and it prabably represents the oddest selection in this list. Yes used to kick ass back in the early seventies, then I don't know what the fuck happenned and they turned to shit. This is a record of their greatness, don't be an asshole thinking about "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and shit like that. This is pure rock genius. Go For It.

And to close . . .

Pink Floyd - Echoes (part 2). taken from "Live at Pompeii" (1972)

Nothing else to say, hope you liked them.
